Algonquin Sunsets: Four Evenings, Four Different Stories

No two sunsets are ever the same. During four evenings in July 2026, I photographed the setting sun from different locations throughout Algonquin Provincial Park, each revealing a distinct personality. From delicate cirrus clouds and tranquil lake reflections to dramatic storm skies and soft pastel twilight, every evening offered a unique display.

These photographs are more than beautiful landscapes. They invite reflection on the passage of time, the privilege of experiencing wild places, and the reminder that nature never repeats itself.

Although Algonquin is best known for its wildlife, its sunsets can be equally unforgettable. Whether viewed from a rocky lookout or the quiet shoreline of a northern lake, each lasted only a few fleeting moments before fading into night.

This gallery celebrates those moments of stillness, beauty, and the ever-changing artistry of the Canadian wilderness.
