Rocky Lopes

Photographer showing Earth's beauty

I was an old-school film photographer in the ’70s and ’80s, but work eventually got in the way and I had to put my camera down. I retired at the end of 2019 after a 42-year career in public service serving the nations of the United States and Canada.

On my retirement, my husband Chuck recognized my artistic side and encouraged me to explore digital photography using modern digital camera equipment.

Unfortunately my husband died in 2021 due to pancreatic cancer.  After a year of grieving, I returned to photography more seriously and reignited my passion for creative photography in 2022.

As a dual national (U.S.-Canada), I spend a great deal of time traveling throughout Canada and its vast national parks.

I have sold some of my work to businesses in Banff, Toronto, and Vancouver, Canada. I’ve also sold prints to businesses in Puerto Rico, too.

I have also done some photography in my home state of Maryland and on my favorite island, Puerto Rico.

My specialties include landscapes, wildlife, astrophotography (moon, sun, auroras), and macro (close-up) photography, but as you can see in my galleries, I have a wide and eclectic interest.
